Review - Tempted by Alexandra Anthony

Synopsis:

When personal assistant Savannah Wood lands a dream job with up and coming rock star Nick Hart, it seems too good to be true. He's devastatingly handsome, reserved and charming...but he has a secret he's determined to keep. Their attraction to one another is immediate and Savannah is determined to keep a professional relationship between them. She's been burned before and has no desire to reopen old wounds.

The lines between professional and personal begin to blur when Savannah finds out Nick's secret: he's a century old vampire with a painful past. He's also hesitant to open himself up to her, yet they find their temptation to one another is stronger than either can resist.

The paparazzi, a string of murders and cryptic, ominous letters threaten their budding relationship. Will their attraction and love be enough to keep them together…or will it tear them apart?

Review: I loved Tempted from the first few lines and read it rather quickly. It has lots of lust, action, mystery, and sex going on so it will satisfy something for everybody! I really took to Nick and Savannah's characters rather well and I loved her friend Siobhan who worked on getting the big paparatzi scoops! She had just the knack for her job and was just a fun person to read. She was loud and proud where Savannah was more reserved. Nick was swoon worthy and I could easily just sit all day and have day dreams of him.

The girls are out partying when they happen upon the famous singer, Nick, and Siobhan urges Savannah to go chat it up with him and this is where one of my favorite quotes comes in from Savannah...."What am I supposed to do? Just saunter up to him and say what exactly? Something like I've noticed you staring, would you like to take me home and have your way with me?" Then Siobhan starts in on her about her current beau who she loathes and again I chuckled when Savannah says.."I only keep him around for plus one functions and the occasional booty call." That kinda makes her sound mean but she really isn't.

It was just a quick little erotic thriller that I think most anybody will enjoy especially when the bodies start piling up. The only thing I hated was the ending. I wanted more!

Excerpt:

My brain was barely functioning due to the amount of alcohol I'd consumed. I simply stared at him; powerless to move away from the hold he had over me. My eyes traced over the sharp curve of his jaw and the elegant sweep of his cheekbones. His deep-set brown eyes seemed far away for a moment. He blinked and flashed his disarming smile,
erasing the somber expression on his face.

The synapses started firing in my brain again. How much did he know about me?

"Why would I understand?"

"You were the face of Clark Cline almost 10 years ago. You caused quite the controversy." As if intent on changing the subject, he tapped the empty bottle of Patron on the table. "Celebrating something in particular?"

It only took the mere mention of Clark Cline to make my skin crawl. He was slimy, a predator dressed in a designer suit. Swallowing away the bad taste his name left in my mouth, I forced myself to smile. "Siobhan was celebrating her scoop. Even the AP picked up her story. It was a big day for her if you’re in the blogging game. She's a major player now."

Nick rubbed his fingertips over his lips. He studied me carefully with his piercing brown eyes before he propped his forearms on the table, his sexy voice barely louder than a whisper. "And you? What are you celebrating?"
