My Thoughts: While I'm not a big historical reader this was written in such a way that I was interested in it especially when being mingled with the horror/gothic genre. It was creepy, gory at times and danced around the notion of a forbidden romance and add to that a priest/witch and I was all in!

I feel like I missed out by not having access to the audio book to read along with so I can almost guarantee this will be a re-read as soon as the audio comes in at my library. It was creepy enough just reading it but I just feel the audio would make it more so!

My Thoughts: I tried and really wanted to like this. The first couple of chapters were good and promising but it just drags out to long. Could have been shaved by about 150 pages. I had to quit with it several times because I was starting to get into a reading slump. It had creepiness to it and would have been enjoyable had it not been so long.

My Thoughts: 4.5 so so close to being a 5 star for me. What a way to start a story... at Halloween with a seance! Creepy! I would have loved to have listened to this on audio! I bet it was twice as creepy. Loved the ghost and their background stories. I had no problem flying thru as the ghosts became more apparent and forced themselves into the daily lives of the houses occupants. I can't say I really had a favorite character as all of them were unique and fun to follow in their turmoil but Cassie... I really felt badly for what all was happening to her especially. The last few pages.... I literally stood from a seated position and exclaimed oh hell naw!

If you like creepy and things that go farther than a bump in the dark don't miss The Suffering. Don't recommend reading it in the dark alone either.

My Thoughts: I'm sorry but I just didn't like this at all. The beginning was so interesting and then it just went off the rails. I was bored to death and found that I didn't care for any of the characters except for the dog.

My Thoughts: I would love to watch this as a movie! Fast paced and enjoyable right up until the very end. I usually don't like stories with a lot of characters in it but it worked well here as they were divided into three distinct groups and very easy to keep separate. I shivered the entire time I was reading this not just the chilling story with the virus but the descriptiveness of the cold environment all the characters were in. and Wow when everything began coming together....pure genius! Would have easily been a 5 star read but the ending left me wanting a bit more......

My Thoughts: Note that this is the first part in a series which is something that I overlooked when I began reading which could explain some of the slower areas. It took a while for me to get into this and even then I found myself somewhat confused sometimes because although I was enjoying myself, especially the gory slasher bits, I would have to go back and reread some parts because it felt like I had missed something? There is one section even now that I truly don't know if it was "for real", a dream, or what.

Overall though it was quite a cool story! I was beginning to get into the characters and how they connected and am very interested to continue on with it to find out where or what happens to them all. It has great potential to be something big as it continues and more of The Division is explained....

My Thoughts: I liked this but actually haven't got a clue how to explain it. I know that doesn't make much sense but it's the best I can do. I mean I feel like I had an idea of what was going on most of the time but then the story would get a bit off kilter like we were supposedly experiencing flashbacks of the girls life before her suicide but the transitioning confused me.

It's gory and is about suicide and rebirth (zombies per say). I love zombies and have just gotten into graphic novels/manga and am totally enjoying it so this was the best of both worlds for me! Even though I am a bit confused I would love to continue on with this and see what happens.

My Thoughts: Loved the 80's vibe and oh my... the songs really took me back in time! I felt like I could connect to most of the characters fairly well even though I was surprised at the twist towards the end but it was fun especially when you realized why it must be the way it was. Read in one sitting!

My Thoughts: Was really excited to continue this series and reconnect with my favorite characters from the first two books. Chaos opens with fighting right from the start and the action never lets up as our gang takes down hordes and hordes of zombies. Edge of your seat scenes.

A very fast read however as this is the third book of the series I feel you would benefit by reading them in order to get a good understanding and character connection. I myself had to go back and refresh a bit to remember who was who and where they were located.

I'm super anticipating the next part....[the "family" finally reconnects with each other and if a few budding romances finally bloom and oh yes does anybody ever smack Luke? He makes my blood boil! LOL (hide spoiler)]

My Thoughts: Story started out great. Weird strange little family but it was interesting for me until Rob took Callie off to Sundial for an intervention of sorts and there was page upon page of dog/animal abuse. Admittedly, I skimmed a great bit after this happened. After completing the book I do understand now that certain things involving the dogs/animals had to be told but wow there were one or two pretty graphic scenes that could have been toned way down. I kind of guessed a big part of what had/was going to happen about midway thru but it didn't really take away anything from the story. The ending was great! [That rotten man got just what he deserved! .......just saying. LOL (hide spoiler)]

My Thoughts: Not as good as I thought it would be but still it was alright. My biggest issue with it was it had way to many characters to try to keep up with. I started to make a list of them just to keep them apart but some weren't in the story long enough to even be bothered with so I ditched the list and just kept reading.

My Thoughts: Holy smokes I loved this book! I enjoyed it from the first sentence until the last and flew thru it like a mad woman!

I have read at least one other book from this author and she is famous for her dual time line stories and is one author who can really make them work in her favor. I'm not able to pinpoint which I enjoyed the best however in this particular story because at different times they both had a different type appeal that drew me in and made me want to stay up into the night to finish the story.

Frankenstein has always been one of my favorite childhood monsters and I love what Jennifer did with it here amongst the three children. As bits begin to become apparent as to what has happened to Iris the story begins to open up and build and build until the twists start appearing and flooring me and once it was all said and done I could have kicked myself for my mistake in the reading that was so darn clever! Kudos to Jennifer for another fine tale!

My Thoughts: My first manga experience and I so enjoyed it! The artwork was super and I could read this over and over and not get bored of gazing at the images.

While rated horror it wasn't scary for me but I enjoyed reading as each chapter introduces us with more ways the spirals come to be and how they scared and began taking over the town climaxing into so many oddities that I couldn't bring myself to put the book down.

I wasn't really satisfied with the ending....I wanted more but still in its own way everything was wrapped up.

My Thoughts: Not what I was looking for when I went into it but still enjoyed it so much I gave it 5 stars! I thought it would have been more of a horror or scary type story but the only part that creeped me out was with those dolls. OMG them dolls were freaking something else. I wouldn't have one of them things in my house no way. Reminds me of the "Chuckie Dolls" to much. The actual cult itself "The Mother Collective" was also another disturbing thing as we find out their purpose and all.

I really despised Andrea the "cousin" but I had to keep reminding myself it was how she was raised and what beliefs were pounded into her that made her how she was and I would get easily irritated with our main character Maeve who was far more trusting and gullible than she should have been. I would be literally clenching my fists and hollering silently in my mind for her to wake up and smell the coffee or just smack her to see what was right in front of her!

Entertaining to the end as the pace kept up and always had something to tug you along to want to see what happened next. There probably should be a few trigger warnings though as there were a few scenes involving sexual assaults/rape.

My Thoughts: I'm rounding this up to a 4 star because while I hated the ending as I hate open ended stories I did actually enjoy myself. The whole concept of diving and finding an underwater house and all the creepiness of the exploration of it was quite cool! The little romance was meh and the characters were a bit annoying in my opinion but I feel like that is not the stories fault but just in keeping with the young age of the characters.

My Thoughts: For some reason I thought this was gonna be a zombie type story and it wasn't but I'm not disappointed that it wasn't at all. I must react to that ending first off....Brilliant just brilliant! Sad but eye opening! Awesome perspective and twist!

This is a story of a mysterious rain that begins to fall all over the world at almost the exact same time covering anybody that got caught in it in a slimy booogery sticky mess. We get to watch everything play out from a small university campus in South Carolina and via news broadcasts the people who become trapped there hear as the paranoia builds over whether this is an apocalyptic event or a possible chemical warfare that's been released or something else entirely.

I enjoyed the story and thought the author did a fine job showcasing how human nature usually is when big things like this that are not easily explained happens. The panic, anxiety, fear, and confusion that gets under our skin and causes us to make rash choices and decisions based on little to no proven facts. My only small issue is I felt I almost had too many characters to keep up with.

First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the “Transition.” Now, eating human meat—“special meat”—is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Then one day he’s given a gift: a live specimen of the finest quality. Though he’s aware that any form of personal contact is forbidden on pain of death, little by little he starts to treat her like a human being. And soon, he becomes tortured by what has been lost—and what might still be saved.

My Thoughts: First off this would have been a 5 star book for me had it not included the tiny part with the animal cruelty. When I saw what was coming I skipped almost a chapter just to avoid it. There was really no reason for it to be brought up. It was not relevant or needed to tell the story. All I needed to know was animals had to be put down due to being virus carriers. I didn't need to know how any of it happened.

Now with that being said it's not so much that I "enjoyed" this tale as much as was intrigued and in wonder of it because before 2019 I would have purely rated this as scify.... something you would see happen at the movies but before 2019 I never saw our world having to walk around with masks on, not being able to touch or hold our loved ones, nor having to actually be quarantined! So yeah, I can really see something like this coming to be! Things aren't quite as scify as they used to be!

This is a story that grossed me out but kept me hanging on and reading at the same time. I had part of the ending figured out but couldn't believe the rest. I really should have seen it coming but didn't.

Synopsis:  Samantha Heather Mackey couldn't be more of an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA program at New England's Warren University. A scholarship student who prefers the company of her dark imagination to that of most people, she is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort--a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other "Bunny," and seem to move and speak as one.

But everything changes when Samantha receives an invitation to the Bunnies' fabled "Smut Salon," and finds herself inexplicably drawn to their front door--ditching her only friend, Ava, in the process. As Samantha plunges deeper and deeper into the Bunnies' sinister yet saccharine world, beginning to take part in the ritualistic off-campus "Workshop" where they conjure their monstrous creations, the edges of reality begin to blur. Soon, her friendships with Ava and the Bunnies will be brought into deadly collision.

 

My Thoughts: I almost dnf'ed this book several times but every time I'd say enough, something, perhaps a "bunny", would draw me back in for more.

Though not a bad story I read it and have no clue what the heck I just read! All I can actually say is it puts me to mind of the two movies Mean Girls meets The Craft. It truly is just one of those books that you have to experience for yourself and draw your own conclusion from it.
