Book Review - My One True North by Milly Johnson

My One True NorthMy One True North by Milly Johnson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Synopsis: Laurie and Pete should never have met. But life has a different idea.

Six months ago, on the same night, Laurie and Pete both lost their partners. Overwhelmed by their grief, they join the same counseling group…and change their lives forever.

From their profound sadness, Pete and Laurie begin to find happiness and healing. Except, the more they get to know one another, the more Laurie begins to spot the strange parallels in their stories. Then Pete discovers a truth that changes everything—one which threatens to reverse everything they’ve worked towards.

But, as surely as a compass points north, some people cannot be kept apart.

My Thoughts: My One True North was so sad yet so wonderful all at once! It was a story that came into my hands at the perfect timing for me to really enjoy it. The author's writing is so smooth and flowing the words merely float right off the page.

As much as I enjoyed the romance I embraced the other elements of the story as well like the grief part. There are so many types of grief in the world and they each affect people in different ways and I believe Milly handled this so superbly and gave a little something for everybody to connect to.

Sometimes it helps to just cry. To get whatever's ailing you out of your system. So you can breath and laugh again. My One True North is a perfect book to pick up and experience all "the feels". It really truly does have a little bit of everything in it including yes, romance!
