My Thoughts: A quick read about an overweight guy who is teased by his office workers and comforts himself with food. This was really easy to relate to and I feel like that's why I was able to sympathize with the MC so much. He finally finds a friend in Maurice but he practically has to die first. And then the fun begins!

His past means love is no longer an option. Not if the woman’s going to have a future. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.

Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets...

My Thoughts: This has been one of the cutest reads I think I have read this year! I ate it up in a few sittings and it was just the kind of story I needed after reading so much other heavier books. Just a nice, fluffy, and fun read.

I loved the idea of a town celebrating Halloween all year long as it is one of my favorite times of the year and every time Delaney called her chubby cats name "Captain Underpants" I would totally lose it! I enjoyed following along as Delaney and Hugh fell for each other even if it was a bit quick but then again everything had to move along quickly in their situation. Hugh was quite dreamy when he wasn't acting like a monkey's behind but he thought he had a good reason to act that way so anyhow one of my favorite quotes from the story was...

"I never knew I was the kind of girl who went in for the whole vampire thing until I had one of my very own."

Review: I didn't actually have high hopes for this one so I was pleasantly surprised when after collecting dust on my shelves for over a year or so it was a rare gem I realized I had overlooked.

It's humorous while serious and the characters were alot of fun to get to know especially Lucy and Solange. Solange Drake has been predestined to become vampire queen although she is such a softie you would never even know she comes from a long lineage of vampires. She doesn't like fighting but instead would rather make pottery and ironically it is her human friend Lucy who is the chick with attitude. Lucy is so funny and always at the ready to do battle although most of the time it gets her into trouble more often than naught but you can't help but love her spirit especially when it comes to her friends The Drake family.

Solange's birthday is fast approaching and it is the one where she must change over as much as she doesn't want to but the action flares when she is kidnapped by a rogue team and the race is on to try to not only save Solange but the people she loves.

Review - Werewolves Be Damned by Stacey Kennedy

Review: This was my first time reading anything by Stacey Kennedy and I really enjoyed it alot! I have heard her erotic works are very good also so I will definitely be looking into those now as well!

Nexi our heroine is another heroine it took me a while to warm up to more or less because she like most of the others want to be so stubborn and hard headed. Although I could feel sympathy towards her I couldn't get that actual "like" feeling going on until well into the story and her actual training with Kyden. But in a way I really appreciated it taking some time for me to watch her grow in herself and her training as she evolved from just being a simple person to what she becomes after training. It gave me the respectful feeling and likeness I needed to have in a character especially a main character.

I’ve found you, fur ball.

Nexi peered from behind the large oak tree and spotted the small log cabin nestled in the thick forest. The porch light cast a warm glow into the night. Fog settled over the lush grass, and the night was dark, eerie.

Stepping away from her hiding place behind the tree, she strode forward and gripped the dagger tightly in her hand. Keeping the silver blade pointed outward, she climbed the cabin’s porch steps, taking each one slowly to avoid detection.

Once she arrived at the front door, she wrapped her hand around the door handle. Rich hunger for revenge burned in her veins and made her intent on one thing: to slaughter the werewolf who escaped the night of her parents’ murder. Not caring what awaited her, she stormed inside, dagger pointed, ready to kill.

The simple cabin had two large brown couches near a wood-burning stove, a kitchenette behind the living room, and a quilt-covered bed resting in the back. And that was it; there were no other rooms to investigate. No secret hiding places she could see.

No damned werewolf.

She cursed, shut the front door behind her, then trotted down the steps to return to her hiding spot. On her way across the yard, she glanced at the space to the right of the tree, which looked much like a heat wave, indicating that the portal to the Otherworld remained.

In some places around the world—or the Earthworld, as supernaturals had called it—there were permanent portals to the supernatural realm. This portal had only appeared because Nexi had travelled to this cabin from the Otherworld. Once she passed through the portal again, the gateway would vanish.

Magic had its perks. Quick travel was one of them.

Nexi shook her head at how normal all this magical stuff seemed now. Just over a month ago she’d never believed in anything that went bump in the night. Now she knew all those things existed, and in fact, she was one of them.

To her horror, she had learned that her birth mother, Tillie, had been murdered by a power-hungry vampire, Lazarus. All those years ago, her birth father, Drake, had protectively decided to block Nexi’s supernatural abilities. He had planned for her to live and die as a mortal. Now with her return to the Otherworld and the removal of the block on her true identity, there was no going back.

She was no longer plain, human, Nexi Jones.

She was Nexi Jones, part guardian, part witch.

Looking away from the portal and to her hiding spot until the werewolf returned, she hurried her steps. She wasn’t ready to return to the Otherworld yet. Not until she had the werewolf’s head as her wall ornament would she dare go home.

Just as she neared the tree, a woodsy scent that had nothing to do with the forest mixed with the citrusy aroma of aftershave. A blink of an eye later, the dagger she held was now at her throat, a hard body closed in on her back.

“You smelled lovely when you arrived.” The low voice by her ear held a faint English accent. “But I never imagined you’d be so pretty.”

The blade pressed into her skin, not drawing blood, but implying that if the werewolf chose, she’d be destined for the grave. “I’m…”

“Going to explain yourself.” He lowered the dagger, took hold of her arm, and jerked her forward.

In a few short strides, the werewolf tossed her through the threshold of the cabin, and slammed the door behind them. He sauntered to the couch, sat down, and regarded her. “Now then, darlin’.” His olive skin was stunningly flawless, and his chocolate-colored hair was spiked tall. “Why would a pretty lass like yourself plan to attack me?”

“Don’t move.” That charm wouldn’t fool her. “Stay right where you are.”

“My mouth is the only thing moving.” His slanted amber eyes raked over her. “Would you like me to stop talking?”

“No.” She hesitated then added, “Only your mouth can move. Nothing else. Tell me what you know.”

He gave her a long look. “I’d be glad to tell you anything you’d like, love.”

His kind face and soft voice wouldn’t trick her. He was a werewolf. She was certain, which was another oddity.

After the block on her supernatural abilities had been lifted, she could identify a supernatural creature as if knowing the difference between a brunette and a redhead. “Tell me why you killed my family.”

“That’s an interesting accusation.” He cocked his head, studying her with a frown. “But I think the more important question is who are you?”

She lifted her chin. “The lass who’s going to cut off your furry wolf balls.”

Review:

Holy freaking cow this one was even better than Book 1! Cat is back and in charge and Bones is hot on her tail...er I mean trail?

It broke Cat's heart to have to leave Bones high and dry in Halfway to the Grave to become a secret government agent fighting for the lives taken by ruthless vampires but it was the only way to save him or so she thought. I hated that Cat started dating a new man in this book but I knew he could never take Bones place NEVER I tell you because Bones is a hard act to follow! Bones is my freaking hero and he is so in love with Cat it's pitiful.

There's alot of action here and I was flying thru the pages as the secrets literally bled there way thru. Had quite a few mouth dropping moments but what do you expect with Cat and Bones other than that?

One of my favorite quotes from One Foot in the Grave was when Bones left his ex-girl in the apartment with Cat and they got into a cat fight...yes pun intended!

"I am going to knock the slut out of you, Annette," I gritted between clenched teeth. "And that should take some doing, you uppity English tramp!"

Holy Cow I Loved It! (5/5 Stars Loved It!) I have not felt so moved and into a vampire story in so long but the emotion that flows between Derek and Sofia as they explore their feelings for each other was just so powerful I hung on every word. I think there may have even been an instance I swooned.

One of my favorite phrases was:

"He was about to sink his teeth into my bare neck and drink my blood. I had every right to feel violated, but I didn’t. What does that say about me?"

Ava Delaney calls herself a hybrid - a living, breathing human who happens to have vampire poison running through her veins. The only thing greater than her thirst for human blood is her capacity for guilt. She does her best to avoid the human world, for everyone's sake.

The action starts out right away with Ava trying to save a human and ending up making him her slave by accident and not knowing how to get rid of him. Her troubles only maximize as she reaches out for help and everybody is trying to kill her for one reason or another!

This was a funny vampiric comedy of errors and my heart went out to poor Ava even as I was laughing my butt off at her predicaments. Here she is trying to help innocents and she seems to be the one who gets into trouble for it.

It does have some serious moments to where you'll be sitting on edge hoping for the best and although I can't exactly say whether the ending was happy or not it did set up part/book 2 very well!

She starts to crave raw food and she is having flashbacks to ancient times.

I almost put this book down several times because usually if I'm not into a book within at least the first 100 pages then I never will be but I have heard such great things about this series that I stayed with it and Blue Bloods redeemed itself in the last few chapters somewhat. I gave it two stars sadly just for laying the groundwork to hopefully a more meaningful adventure in the second book.

The characters never came to life for me and were just drab and boring. The only one with any finess at all was the evil minded Mimi who basically single-handedly kept the story alive with her jealousy and bad attitude. I kept waiting on Jack to break out of his shell and show me something but even though he had a few spurts of life and interest in Schuyler he always let his father and twin (Mimi) rule his world.

Bliss and Dylan was a relationship that I saw potential in and just when I was becoming involved (FINALLY) in the story, chaos and mystery break out and the book ends.

Schuyler who I would think should be a main character is just flat and at first I was hoping her and Jack would become a team/couple but Jack acts as though he has no mind of his own so then their is Oliver but one minute he is acting like a child and the next he is all knowing so I just easily got disgusted with the characters.

Another thing that just bugged me to no end was it was almost midways before any mention of vampires and angels ever came into play. The first half was merely high school kids on their day to day crisis

I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I actually only have a copy because it was a freebie for a short while on Amazon and was recommended by a fellow book blogger who raves about Rhiannon Frater books!

Well Rhiannon Frater has a new fan! I was immediately drawn in with her descriptiveness coupled with the alarming situation Amal finds herself in! Yea, it was another vampire story but it just had a different feel to it for me. I could almost imagine myself drifting alongside Amal, like I was there with her in her grave and adventures afterward. I also relished the fact that it just wasn't another one of those Mr nice guy vampire swooners. (which I am not knocking but I enjoyed having a break from) Here we get to actually experience some realization that vamps are not all cuddly and sweet!

Kudos and my hats off to you Michelle! You have packed alot of punch and excitement into just a mere 56 pages and I could not stop reading for a minute! I am very excited to continue on with this series! The little girl that haunts Dash/Angel has me intrigued and I only wish I could have learned more about her as well as Rafael. I can't wait to find out what happened to Dash's parents and how she comes to have special powers.

I really enjoyed the technique that was used by writing the story in blog/journal type entries. It made the skipping around in the story more easier for me to follow along with and seemed to keep me wondering what was going to happen next.

I sort of figured out ahead one part that happened but I wont mention it because it's a spoiler but I am interested to see how that plays out because it's a really bad place for a couple of the characters to be in and how they will handle it.

Me: Angel, I am so glad that you are joining me and helping me out today:)

Angel: Oh, no problem:)

Me: I wanted to first start with the question, how does it feel to have an entire book written about
you and your experiences? Now that the book’s going on tour, that will be even more eyes on
you?

Angel: It was weird at first, so many people talking about well… I don’t know my life. I mean…
I was just trying to keep myself and my brother alive, (you know…Vamps can be hazardous…);
trying to be a normal kid, when all of a sudden, I have an audience! But its okay, everyone has
been pretty cool, so I’m getting used to it.

Me: I can only imagine…wow...okay, next question…Have you always known that you were
this phenomenal, wicked, Vamp Hunter, and that with your special essence, it’s believed, you
are destined to change the human and supernatural world forever!..(Um, take your time with that
one:)

Angel: Okay, wow…you just put that one right out there huh? Um, no… I didn’t know that I was
to be the key in some type of apocalyptic, battle with mankind…thought I was just a normal kid
that had luck that sucks…But the perks are awesome!…now that I am trained, I’m getting faster
and stronger and learning more moves…I can even take on Ismet..

Me: For our readers, now who is Ismet again? And also how do you get along with the other
girls?

Angel: Ismet is one kick butt Jinn (Genie), she’s not from some bottle that crosses her arms
and blinks on command; She is from an old race of beings that evolved from Fire…they are the
protectors of the Divide…

Me: The Divide?

Angel: Yep, I just learned about all of this too…the Divide is the barrier between the
supernatural world (unseen to us) and ours. Ismet was one of the greatest warriors amongst her
people...

Me: How did she end up at Ame’ Academy? There must have been a great threat to warrant such
a fighter to be here???

Angel: It was. Me.

Me: Oh…okay…well, how about my second question, do you get along with the other girls? I
believe you all have made somewhat of a team, correct?

Angel: We’re a team now, but at first…I wasn’t sure… I’ve always liked Elin (she’s half
Vampire/half Human) the sweetest kid you’ll ever meet, unless you threatened someone she
loves…then wow, she’s scary…and I already told you about Ismet, I have much respect for her
mad skills:)

Me: And?

Angel: (Sigh)…and yep, there’s Belladonna, a stuck up Natural- Born Vamp that I am surprised
I haven’t staked yet!

Me: Is it the fact you’re a Hunter and she’s a Vampire? Even though, the Natural-Born Vamps
pose no threat to Humans?

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. Even though I really enjoyed reading it, I could only bring myself to give Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs 3/5 stars because while the story was laugh out loud funny it seemed to lack much originality or depth. Jane basically gets turned into a vampire after a freak hunting accident and we follow her as she tries to deal with her "undead life".

Jane was okay but she just wasn't "emotional" enough for me? I can't think of a better word for what I am trying to say right now but like I would still be freaking out if I had found out I was now a vampire and had to begin drinking blood and rearranging different aspects of my life and she did get a "little" excited at first but it was like she succomed to it to easily and the romance if you can call it that between her and Gabriel was just kinda weird. It was rushed and well it just wasn't realistic for me. It was like an on again off again type of relationship where one moment was sorta hot and the next was like oh no we can't be together.

But like I said it was still funny. I especially loved the scene where her best friend found out she was a vampire and I loved the fact that Jane was a librarian! I love reading stories that have libraries, bookstores, and ect... in them. The ending left lots of promise for the next book so I plan on continuing on with this series.

Of the first 4 books in this series this one is the one I least liked but don't get me wrong it is NOT because it was not good it just was a bit "slow" moving for me until about midways. Anyhow...I thought Oliver was bad news but Oh my Gawd Bishop and his cronies have quickly went above and beyond him! Hell he is like a vamp angel next to them! I despised Ysandre ( a female vamp that came with Bishop) more than the lot of them. She instantly took a strong liking to Claire's man Shane and rubbed their noses in it because there was nothing they could do about it without causing ALOT of trouble for themself and their friends and Claire's family who stupidly moved to Morganville to be near Claire. Gives a totally new meaning to that old phrase "Sometimes parents just don't understand!" because I wanted to lay the smackdown on them myself! Here Claire is trying to protect them and they have to play the parent card and wind up in deep doo doo alongside her. As if the poor girl didn't have enough problems!

OK I can't go into much more except to say that a big welcome feast is coming up for Bishop and each vampire must bring a human "date" and wouldn't you know that dang Ysandre demands Shane to be hers and he can't say no or else. There are quite a few eye raising pairs going to the feast but I'm not telling! You'll have to dive in and catch up! So until Book 5 I'm over n out!

OKay so I missed book one and missed the actual "meeting" between Lyra and Jaden our two star crossed lovers in Midnight Reckoning where apparently they didn't get off on a good foot and in fact really pissed each other off good fashioned! So as the story opens Jaden is out for a nightly stroll and comes across a heated argument between a man and woman. The man is making advances on the woman who turns out to be Lyra and she is not welcoming them so to make a long story short Jaden steps in and comes to her rescue. During the struggle Lyra loses a precious family heirloom and in her haste to get away she forgets it and Jaden makes his way to her home and this is where things get going!

I didn't like Lyra to begin with. I felt she was a spoiled rotten brat who was totally full of herself but I warm up to her as I learn more about her world and being an only child,,,a female child at that always having to prove herself to earn the respect she deserved because her father was Alpha of the Thorn. Jaden I immediately fell in love with I mean come on part vamp part puddy cat? purrrrrrrrrr lol I mean I loved that weird combination (weird because it was a first time for me) I just wonder about the cat part. I think I missed something like how that was sposed to come into play or the purpose of him being part cat.

I enjoyed learning about The Proving and and the ways of The Thorn and their laws although I found most of them harsh but when you think about it real packs of wolves react similar to things mentioned in the story I think so it went hand in hand I guess. Still there comes a point in time when my heart actually breaks for Lyra. I even had to get a tissue!

Incredible love story! I was completely immersed in it and look forward to reading the next book!

I have got to say I had low expectations when I began reading this book because I usually don't like historicals very much but this one grabbed me and would not turn me loose! It kind of has a feel of Beauty and the Beast but with extras like Miranda's power and it's even hard to say it's only purely historical because of the paranormal and mystery bits and such added in.

Firelight flowed off the pages leaving me devouring it and eager to find out what would happen next and the love story between Miranda and Archer was simply breathtaking for lack of a better word. Their's was an arranged marriage but once they actually began falling/feeling for each other the chemistry was just explosive and I could not wait until they realized what they had together.

Even if you have not really enjoyed historicals, like me, in the past you should totally give Firlight a try because it is much more!

This is book three of The Morganville Vampire Series and things are really beginning to heat up now! Claire is beginning to come into her own and I sometimes forget myself that she is only 16 years old! She has taken on so much responsibility in a world that she only thought was a figment of movies and horror books but has now became the very existance of the way she must live. After signing a "protection" contract with Amelie she must begin an apprenticeship with Myrnin but she is sort of left out of the loop on a few things and more than once it almost lands her in some serious trouble.

This book has so much going on in it that you don't even have time to go potty...or well you wont want to because it is just one thing after another. I honestly don't see how these kids ever get any sleep or social life at all because their lives are filled with running from vampires, dealing with crazy family members, and fending off pyscho bitches from hell who one minute want to kill you and the next want you to be their best friend!

I truly wish Shane would get over the fact that his best friend is a vampire now. He had a good reason for doing what he did and who knows what Shane would have done in the same situation. I could sort of understand more if it was Claire freaking out but Shane grew up in Morganville and has been around issues like this so often it should not be so big of a deal as he is making it. Besides what is done is done...ya know?

I was totally shocked with the cliffhanger on this one. I had not expected that at all!

My awe continues into book two of this series again with not a moment of dullness and with just as much action, if not more! We are sitting on our seats as the book opens in fear and pain because Shane's dad has come to town with revenge on his mind for what happened to his family when they lived in Morganville. He and his possee has taken over Michael's house and "killed" him thinking he was a vampire. I really wanted to scratch that mans eyes out!!! How can Shane have the same blood running thru his veins as Frank Collins?

Frank causes all kinds of nasty messes all about town and gets Shane into some very hot water and we're left worried and upset if The Glass House gang will be able to come to the rescue before it's too late.

I'm still not 100% sure which of the guys I lust for more..it's still a tight race there nor have I drawn any new conclusions on Amelie but I do respect her which is a helluva lot more than I can say for the other vamp leader Oliver whom I despise with a passion. Sam, a new vamp we're introduced to has a history with Amelie that I am anxious to explore more. I just know there is more there than what has been revealed thus far and it has totally peaked my curiosity wondering if they were lovers or what?

Oh and just a little side note on our girl Claire...well it seems she has started growing a nice pair of balls and is quickly losing the 16 year old sweetness and I think things is about to get all kinds of nasty up in here so stay tuned and don't come out after dark!

This is the first book I have ever read of Rachel Caine's and I absolutely LOVED it. There was not one slow part in it. It was just non-stop action thru and thru and I hated to even take a bathroom break for fear of missing anything! (lol)

There were quite a few parts that made my jaw drop and exclaim No Way! especially when I discovered that (ha did ya really think I was gonna spill the beans?) Seriously though just know that your in for a few surprises for sure and I usually can spot them a mile off and even I was stupefied in this book until they were revealed!

I adored the characters even the deranged lunatic Monica who tortured Claire. Rachel really fleshed her out as one of those characters you LOVE to HATE. I am still undecided on which of the leading males (Michael or Shane) I like best but maybe by end of the next book I can share my preference as well as my thoughts on Amelie. I'm just not completely disliking her even though I know she is a vampire and probably can't really be trusted. Claire is just a regular girl next door type that happens to be a brain except when it comes to common sense sometimes and as much as I loved her innocence..I wanted to smack her a few times or at the very least shake her and ask her if she was pure nuts! I mean sheesh if I knew there were vampires I be dogged if you'd see me bouncing around after dark! No way no sir!
