Book Review - The Rumor by Lesley Kara

Synopsis: When a single mother hears a rumor outside her son’s school, she never intends to pass it on. But one casual comment leads to another. . . . And now there’s no going back.

Rumor has it that a notorious killer, a woman who has been released from prison years after her brutal crime, is living under a new identity in Joanna’s seaside town. So who is the supposedly reformed murderer now living in their neighborhood? Suspicion falls on everyone.

As Joanna becomes obsessed with the case, her curiosity will expose her son and his father to a heartless psychopath who has killed—and may kill again. And she will learn how dangerous one rumor can become . . . and just how far she must go to protect those she loves from harm. She is going to regret the day she ever said a word. . .

Favorite Quote: "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain

My Thoughts: Oh wow where to start?  Another thriller/mystery that I practically flew thru! Loved it!  I enjoyed Jo who had moved to be closer to her mom and to get her son Alfie into a new school because he was bullied so badly where they were living at and she had hoped he would fit in better in her old hometown only while dropping him off for school one day she overhears "The Rumor" that a killer of a young boy has been living amongst them.  She really thinks nothing much of it at first but later uses the info as an ice breaker at a book club and things just explode from there and go haywire.  She begins getting threatening messages and tries to figure out who is behind it.

It was just a page turner and I was so so shocked when I found out who the killer was and why everything happened as it did. I guessed several times who it was and was wrong every time.

How would you react to finding out there was a child killer in your neighborhood?
