Cassie McDowell’s life in 1980s Minnesota seems perfectly wholesome. She lives on a farm, loves school, and has a crush on the nicest boy in class. Yes, there are her parents’ strange parties and their parade of deviant guests, but she’s grown accustomed to them.

All that changes when someone comes hunting in Lilydale.

One by one, local boys go missing. One by one, they return changed—violent, moody, and withdrawn. What happened to them becomes the stuff of shocking rumors. The accusations of who’s responsible grow just as wild, and dangerous town secrets start to surface. Then Cassie’s own sister undergoes the dark change. If she is to survive, Cassie must find her way in an adult world where every sin is justified, and only the truth is unforgivable.

My Thoughts: It was not the worst thing I had ever read but it just had too many holes in it and things left unsaid and under described and then after sitting and reading the entire story waiting for something significant to happen the author then leaves you hanging to make up your own mind as to how the story ends or to interpret it your own way. I'm not a big fan of that! I want all my loose ends tied neatly with a bow please. There was an extra part added to the story later and placed on the authors website that did just that but why was it taken from the story to begin with? If anything it would have redeemed the whole thing for me!

I give it three stars because although bits just seemed to be missing or left up to the reader it was an interesting read because of the time period and it brought back a few childhood memories for me. Nostalgia if you will. It had the premise to have been so much better.
