Synopsis: "Katie focuses her mind, trying to keep another anxiety attack at bay. The victim’s long brown hair is slick and wet, her body rigid in the grass. She looks more like a mannequin than the woman Katie had spoken with only yesterday, the woman she had promised to protect… "
My Thoughts: Ohhh I LOVED this book! I would wake up in the middle of the night and have to grab my Kindle to read just a few more pages and sometimes an hour would pass before I knew it! It started out with this lady, Amanda Payton, running in front of a patrol car claiming to have been kidnapped and saying over and over she told the truth but nobody could get anything more out of her and the case went cold and then later her naked body was discovered. Katie and her service dog Cisco is on the case and "somebody" is leaving notes for Katie letting her know if she is on the right trail or not which just adds to my love for the story because I would sit many of times just pondering and guessing who I thought was sending those doggone notes! Believe me I was basket case by the end of the book!
I usually don't like to read books out of order but found I didn't have any problem as bits and parts from book one were refreshed thruout the story to give us a better understanding of some aspects of Katie and Cisco's past. So much action from the very beginning right up to the end just left me wanting more so I guess I will be going back and reading the first book of this series soon!
Recommended for any crime or thriller lover for sure! It will keep you up nights!
*I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
