Waiting on Wednesday - Monument 14

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating or books already out that we just haven't picked up yet.
This week on Waiting On Wednesday:

I am waiting on Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. It sounds really good!
Your mother hollers that you’re going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don’t stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don’t thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you hurdle down the stairs and make a run for the corner.

Only, if it’s the last time you’ll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you’d stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus.

But the bus was barreling down our street, so I ran.

Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong.

In Emmy Laybourne’s action-packed debut novel, six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a tech genius), and six little kids trapped together in a chain superstore build a refuge for themselves inside. While outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapons spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart.

  1. I haven't heard of this book before so thanks for sharing! How cool would it be to be trapped inside a supermarket. I mean if there was anywhere I would want to be trapped it would be in a store filled with food/games/clothing/entertainment. I mean unless the power went out and all the food started rotting...ewww.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  2. Hi! I want to read this book. I really, really want to. It sounds good and exactly what I want to read in young-adult right now. It's too far away from now though. Too long to wait. Good pick!

  3. I have seen this one on some WOW's and although I'm not sure it's for me, I admit it sounds interesting. I will have to see the reviews before I decide, I guess. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
